The rural and shooting organisations work on behalf of their members and the wider sector to secure a sustainable future for game shooting. In addition to the member benefits available, they develop and promote best practice and lobby Government on behalf of their members and the whole game management and shooting sector. They fund and conduct research and trials to develop evidence of the positive impact well conducted game shooting and game rearing has on the countryside. Their membership terms require all their members to abide by the published industry best practice, such as the Code of good shooting practice or the game rearing code.
